TORONTO — Reetu Gupta has just been named president and CEO of Easton's Group of Hotels and The Gupta Group. Her father, Dr. Steve Gupta will become founder and chairman, while her brother, Suraj K. Gupta will continue as chief investment officer. Easton's Group of Hotels is also basking in the limelight of two Design Awards from Hotelier Magazine, plus numerous awards for the company principals, Dr. Steve and Reetu Gupta.
Last night, Dr. Steve Gupta addressed the staff of the two companies to announce Reetu's new role.
“Reetu has been working at the company for the past 20 years, working as a receptionist at the office headquarters, as well as accounting and payroll, before shifting over to the hotels where she worked at the front desk, and made her way into sales,” her father said.
“Reetu, we are so proud of you and your accomplishments in our companies and across the industry.
“While I shift into my role of founder and chairman of both companies, I know that your passion and dedication will take our company into its next chapter, as we embrace and celebrate the Easton's Group 40th Anniversary next year.”
Since achieving her MBA in 2008, Reetu quickly added hotels to the portfolio while also diversifying the company’s assets into residential real estate in 2012.
In the past eight months Reetu has won four awards, including being named one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40, and Entrepreneur of the Year by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce.
Last year, Reetu and her brother, Suraj, founded and launched Rogue Insight Capital, a private venture capital firm; a further diversification of the company’s assets.
Suraj joined the company last year as chief investment officer of the Easton’s Group of Hotels and The Gupta Group, while also maintaining his role as president and CEO of Rogue Insight Capital.
Suraj graduated with honours with his MBA from Columbia Business School and is unequivocally of world leader material. When he was 16 years old, The Globe and Mail completed a profile on Suraj’s accomplishments at a young age, touting him as Canada’s next prime minister.
As Reetu steps into her new role, her father, Dr. Steve K. Gupta will shift into the role of founder and chairman of both companies.
When speaking to Reetu about these changes, she noted that the family works very well together. “When I was offered this role, I told my dad that I was so honoured and excited to continue to work together in this new capacity, because as a family we are a force to be reckoned with,” she joked.
