Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor (previously known as Hotel Formentor,) has appointed Estreya Gosalbez as its new general manager.
Gosalbez will return to her home country to lead the team that will reintroduce the landmark Formentor hotel as Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor next year.
Her previous role was general manager at Four Seasons, Whistler, B.C. She also held roles with the company as hotel manager, Miami, Fla., hotel manager, Atlanta, Ga., director of rooms, Atlanta, Ga., director of rooms, Scottsdale, Ariz., front office manager, Buenos Aires, Argentina, front desk manager, Hampshire, U.K., concierge — private residences, Whistler, B.C. and room attendant, Victoria, B.C.
She was born in Madrid and educated in Canada, where she began her Four Seasons career on the concierge team in Whistler, B.C. in 2005. Taking on increasing responsibilities with assignments in England, Argentina and the United States, she eventually returned to the place where her career began as general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler before making the move to Mallorca.
“As we renovate and revitalize the iconic Hotel Formentor, we are paying homage to its rich history while creating a Four Seasons experience that will introduce our guests to the unique local culture of these islands, with renewed appreciation for the natural beauty of the land and the sea,” says Gosalbez, who is currently assembling a local and international team that will bring the experience to life. “We are particularly excited and proud to share that Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor will be the only property in the Balearic Islands with LEED Gold Certification, an international measure of exemplary leadership in sustainable building practices.”
Working with architect Estudio Lamela and interior designers Gilles & Boissier, Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor has been designed to respect and protect its natural surroundings through various environmental initiatives, such as the restoration of native vegetation and planting, reduced water consumption, rainwater harvesting and the use of grey water for landscape irrigation, heat recovery systems, solar power through use of solar panels and food waste management systems.
