Spanish hotel chain RIU Hotels & Resorts is set to open its first Canadian establishment, the Riu Plaza Toronto, in late 2025. This addition will expand the company's urban portfolio to 12 properties worldwide.
Situated at 30 Widmer Street in Toronto’s Entertainment District, the 48-storey north tower will house the hotel on its first 28 floors, with the upper levels dedicated to condominium units. The south tower, also part of the development, will be a 49-storey condominium building. Both towers are designed by BDP Quadrangle for developer Plaza.
The Riu Plaza Toronto will feature 352 rooms, a conference room accommodating up to 38 people, a lobby bar, a 24-hour gym, and a restaurant offering a buffet breakfast.
This venture marks RIU’s first property in Canada, reflecting the company’s strategy to establish a presence in major cities worldwide. The Riu Plaza line, which began in 2010 with a hotel in Panama, has since expanded to various metropolitan destinations.
