Jon Zwickel, president and CEO of the Canadian Vacation Ownership Association (CVOA) announced that he will step down from his leadership role at the Association, effective at year-end. The announcement was made at VO-Con ‘18, CVOA’s annual conference. Zwickel will continue in his position until his replacement is recruited and fully on-boarded.

Zwickel told conference attendees his plan is to focus on expanding InnVentures, his hotel and resort consulting practice. He and the CVOA board have established a workable succession plan that will ensure the association’s continued growth, impact and relevancy. The plan includes InnVentures becoming a CVOA member and Zwickel agreeing to serve as a director on the Association’s Board.

“I am exceedingly grateful for the hard work, long hours and creativity this board of directors has invested in supporting me over the years,” said Zwickel. “I am convinced that CVOA will continue to be an increasingly strong and credible advocate for the Canadian vacation ownership industry.”

“Jon is a highly experienced hotelier with the requisite skills to add value to his clients’ resort developments. My fellow members and directors join me in wishing him well” said Francis Taylor, managing director of DAE and CVOA’s chair.

Greg Crist, CEO of the Association of Vacation Owners and CVOA vice-chair added, “CVOA achieved many milestones during Jon’s six-year tenure. I believe his greatest accomplishments were increased government advocacy, improved governance, a greater commitment to industry ethics and rebranding of the association.”

In his remarks to the conference attendees, Zwickel said, “I am proud that under my leadership, CVOA’s membership has grown substantially, the mix of members is healthier and we have become a credible industry voice. The association boasts strong industry affiliations, a highly engaged board and an active member base. The fundamentals are in place to ensure that the association continues to thrive as the voice of the Canadian vacation ownership industry.”
