Loto‑Québec announces hotel construction on Casino de Montréal grounds
Loto-Québec announced the construction of a 200-room hotel on the grounds of the Casino de Montréal, Montréal, Que.
“The Casino de Montréal is a major tourist attraction that welcomes several million visitors annually. Adding a hotel on the casino grounds will enhance its attractiveness and further increase Montréal’s visibility on the world stage. This is great news as this project aligns perfectly with one of our goals, which is to continue developing the hotel offer. Tourism is a powerful economic development driver. It generates substantial benefits for our communities across Québec,” says Caroline Proulx, minister of tourism and minister responsible for the Lanaudière Region.
The project aims to enhance the casino’s entertainment offer and cement its reputation as a prime tourist destination.
The project centres on respecting the unique character of Parc Jean-Drapeau, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Therefore, Loto-Québec supports a low-height building design. Thanks to its architectural signature, the hotel will blend in with its surroundings while preserving the natural beauty of the landscape. The corporation will also ensure that construction will uphold the highest sustainability standards to minimize the environmental impact. It will soon launch calls for tenders to begin the hotel design process.
Loto-Québec will be the sole owner of the hotel, which is expected to welcome its first guests within two to three years. It will soon choose a renowned hotel partner with which to join forces. The project represents an investment of nearly $150 million. The revenues it generates will benefit the entire Québec community. The hotel will join the Hilton Lac-Leamy and Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu as part of Loto-Québec’s real estate portfolio.
