Mews, the hospitality cloud company, has appointed Daniel Ahremark as its new chief financial officer. This comes in a year of substantial growth at Mews that saw almost 40 per cent customer growth in 2023, following a Series C investment of $185 million in 2022.
With experience leading finance transformation and M&A at international fintech giants including PayPal and iZettle, Ahremark’s expertise will be instrumental in deepening Mews’ traction within the hospitality industry whilst propelling the company further into the financial services industry.
“Daniel brings with him not just a wealth of experience, but a finance vision that perfectly resonates with where we see Mews in the future. His expertise will propel us further into the financial services sector and expand our horizons into fintech while staying true to our core mission of enabling remarkable guest experiences around the world,” said Matt Welle, CEO of Mews. “I am extremely excited for the milestones we’ll achieve together.”
Appointing Ahremark as the new CFO of Mews not only reaffirms the business’ commitment to growth and innovation but also sparks a renewed focus on global finance and operational strategies.
On his appointment, Ahremark said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the vibrant team at Mews. Having experienced significant time in the dynamic worlds of both SaaS and Fintech, this feels like a natural progression for me. As Mews continues to grow, I’m excited to bring maturity and automation to our operations, freeing up resources amongst our teams to operate at such scale.” He added, “We’re moving into a new era of financial services at Mews, and I look forward to working with our dedicated teams, loyal customer base and our committed investors, to ensure that our collective aspirations transform into tangible value.”
Ahremark takes over from Pavla Munzarova, who has been part of the Mews finance team for seven years and has been instrumental in the growth of Mews, which saw a valuation of $860 million at its Series C funding round in 2022.
“Mews has been my family for the last seven years and I am incredibly proud to have grown the finance & operations team to 100 team members, while taking it from seed stage to Series C. Now I’m taking a short break while I focus on starting my own family,” said Pavla Munzarova, former CFO of Mews. “I’ve been working closely with Daniel over the past year, and I’m thrilled to be passing on the torch. Daniel has a brilliant vision for the future of finance at Mews and I look forward to returning from maternity leave next year to continue working together.”
Entrusted with leading a dedicated global team, Ahremark will oversee the financial and operational landscape of the organization, ensuring streamlined operations, efficient capital allocation, and fostering a culture of fiscal responsibility and transparency.
