Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham has opened its 25th Canadian hotel property, in Kanata, Ont.
MasterBUILT Hotels, the privately-owned hotel development and investment company headquartered in Calgary, has acted as Wyndham’s Canadian territorial manager since 2011. The hotel brand aims to open 75 properties by 2036.
The first Canadian Microtel was built in Estevan, Sask. in 2012. Others soon followed across Ontario and Western Canada. Today, there are Microtels in all but two provinces.
The latest Microtel in Kanata was built in partnership with the Eeyou Companee & Tawich Development Corporation. It is the eighth Canadian Microtel led by First Nation investors.
Moving forward, all future builds will follow a new design standard. The next-generation Microtel will feature a 76-room floorplan that gives owners options for pool and slide packages, and The Lobby Bar & Lounge.
“With today’s investors seeking greater certainty, and less risk, the decision was made to create a modular design that allows owners to tailor amenities to suit their market – and budget,” said MasterBUILT president and CEO, David Donaldson.
