Big Picture Conferences is pleased to welcome
Jody Larose, who is responsible for developing and negotiating the sponsorships
and strategic partnerships for Big Pictures Conferences and events.
Larose brings over 20 years of marketing and
sponsorship sales expertise having worked at senior levels for some of Canada’s
highest profile brands including CBC Television, Royal Agricultural Winter
Fair, Art Gallery of Ontario and Niagara Canada Tourism. Developing
partnerships with organizations from the tourism, travel and hospitality sector
has been a strong and consistent element to Jody’s background. She is the
recipient of several industry awards for sponsorship innovation and has
presented thought leadership content at a variety of conferences across North
America.
Enney Hoang is now event manager at Big Picture Conferences Inc. She joined BPC in September 2015
as an event coordinator, a position she held for almost three years. In her new
role, Enney will manage the development and execution of all marketing and
event logistics. Before she joined BPC, Enney was a teaching assistant
for Ryerson's Event Management and the Business Aspects of Incentive Travel
courses. She also was also assistant manager for Alliance Cinemas.
Gary Sims is now chief operating office at RLH Corporation. Sims brings over 30
years of experience with notable brands around the globe including over ten
years of franchise and management sales experience at Starwood Hotels and
Resorts. He will oversee all franchise operations, sales, hotel
management and human
resources.
Sims joins RLH Corporation from Omni La Costa Resort
& Spa in southern California, where he served as managing director of the
650-room luxury golf resort. He will be based in the company’s headquarters in Denver and is
expected to begin in his position on June 25, 2018.
RLH Corporation has promoted Amanda Marcello to senior vice-president of brand strategy. Marcello has
been with RLH Corporation since 2015, most recently leading the development and
rebrand of Signature and Signature Inn. In her new role, Marcello will
lead all RLH Corporation brands, building and evaluating programs and
performance including standards and design guidelines to ensure relevancy and
value within the marketplace. Marcello has had several progressive roles at
RLH Corporation, including two years as vice president of F&B. Previously,
she held vice-president level positions with the JPG Restaurant Group and
hospitality consulting agency AF&Co.
Linda Hartwell is now manager of marketing and communications at Centre for Social Enterprise Development (CSED). CSED is a not
for profit organization that advances businesses and organizations, whose
primary objective is to drive systemic social change. Hartwell is a
dynamic marketing and communications professional with 20 years of experience. She comes to CSED from Ottawa's National Arts Centre, where she provided marketing and communications support for
the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Music Education Outreach Programs. Prior to that she was director of marketing communications and business development at the Hotel Association of Canada for more than seven years.
Sean J. Shannon recently joined Best Western Hotels & Resorts as regional director-North American Development. His responsibilities are to promote the soft brands of Signature Collection and
Premier Collection in the Western US and
Canada. Prior to joining Best Western, Shannon was vice-president
of development-Canada, and was then promoted to vice-president of development-Americas for Carlson
Rezidor Hotel Group. His responsibilities included developing Country Inn and
Suites in the U.S. Upper Midwest and Canada, working with developers, owners and investors to increase the Country
Inn and Suites brand.
Tourism HR Canada is delighted to announce that Darlene Grant Fiander
has been selected by the Board of Directors as its new chair. Her tenure
becomes effective at the upcoming June 20 board meeting, to be held in
Ottawa.
Grant Fiander will build on the board’s mandate and the progress made
through changing governmental and business environments and the organization’s
restructuring and renewal.
Currently president of the Tourism Industry
Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) and executive director of the Nova Scotia
Tourism Human Resource Council (NSTHRC), she is a longtime member of the
Tourism HR Canada Board and brings more than 20 years of experience in Canadian
tourism and human resources.
Grant Fiander replaces William Pallett as chair. Pallett served in the role for six years, and will continue to provide guidance and historical perspective to the board in his new role as past chair.
