Aaron Laurie has joined the Marriott development team as director of Lodging Development, Eastern Canada, based in Toronto and focused on expanding the group’s select-service and extended-stay brands. Laurie comes to Marriott from Pomeroy Lodging, where his position as associate, Asset Management, entailed executing the company’s aggressive strategic growth plan through new developments and acquisitions while maximizing the value of the existing portfolio of 21 hotels. Other experiences include working in asset management with IFA Hotel Investments based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He also served with HVS in various hospitality consulting capacities out of their Dubai, Vancouver, and Toronto offices.
Mark Moffatt is now director of Food & Beverage at The Broadview Hotel, Toronto, where he is overseeing $10 million in food and beverage operations over three distinct outlets as well as event spaces in Toronto’s east end. He has 20 years of experience in hospitality, spending the last four and a half years as a consultant for companies such as CORE Restaurant in Leslieville and GM of STK Toronto. He was also wine director and sommelier for the Shangri-La hotel in Toronto, curating and overseeing the hotel’s beverage program, and held similar positions at Crush Wine Bar, Chez Victor Restaurant (now Victor), and reds wine country bistro.
Michelle Dias was recently named Brand Public Relations manager – Canada, Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Prior to that she was marketing manager, Public Relations and Communications, Canada for almost four years, responsible for strategy, management and execution of marketing campaigns, which support IHG Canada's more than 180 hotels, across seven brands coast-to-coast. Dias came to IHG fresh from a job doing public relations and marketing for the Pan Am Games in Toronto. Prior to that, she was social media specialist for GoodLife Fitness’ public relations team, and worked in public relations for NKPR and Hill+Knowlton.
Scott de Savoye was recently named interim general manager at Harrison Hot Springs Hotel & Spa in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C. Prior to that, he was interim GM for the Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa, and worked for InnVest REIT as general manager of the Holiday Inn Bloor-Yorkville in Toronto, and as general manager of the Crowne Plaza in White Plains, N.Y., the Holiday Inn Civic Center in San Francisco and The Hazelton Hotel in Toronto. Before that, he spent 10 years with Delta Hotels in general manager roles. de Savoye started his career in the hotel industry at the King Edward Hotel in Toronto.
Trevor St. Louis is now controller at Hockley Valley Resort and Adamo Estate Winery. His experience includes positions as director of finance for Imago Restaurants, senior finance analyst for Great Circle Solar Management Corp., senior finance analyst for FRHI Hotels & Resorts, financial systems specialist for Delta Hotels and Resorts, and progressive financial positions with Four Seasons in Nevis, West Indies and Toronto.
