Mohammed is the new general manager at Four Seasons Resort Whistler, replacing Joerg Rodig. Mohammed
boasts 20 years with Four Seasons. He began his career as a security officer at
Four Seasons Hotel Cairo and has since travelled the world, holding a variety
of roles in Toronto, the Maldives, Thailand, Bahamas, Saudi Arabia and
Alexandria. He joined Four Seasons Resort Whistler last year as the property’s
resort manager. During his
time as resort manager, Mohammed became known as a dedicated, energetic and
diligent worker who consistently brought his passion for guest service and
unique experiences to the forefront of operations.
Members of the Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association were sorry to hear of the passing of their former colleague Marilyn Dockstader peacefully last month at age 72. Deepest sympathies go out to her husband Brian, her children, and grandchildren. She was an amazing entrepreneur who owned and operated a picture frame store for many years. Marilyn also worked at The Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association as a Benefits Administrator for over 20 years before retiring in 2005. A celebration of life was held on Sept. 8, 2018 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
JLL are pleased to announce that managing director and head of the group’s Global Hotel Desk, Gilda Perez-Alvarado, has been named chief executive officer of JLL’s Americas Hotels & Hospitality Group
effective Sept. 1, 2019. Perez-Alvarado will transition into the role over
the course of the next year and will serve as deputy CEO during the interim,
working closely with Mark Wynne Smith, JLL’s global chief executive officer,
Hotels & Hospitality, and Arthur Adler, Americas chairman, Hotels &
Hospitality, to assume responsibility for JLL’s Americas hospitality real
estate services.
Additionally, Jeffrey Davis and John Strauss have been
promoted to co-heads of Americas Hotel Capital Markets, working together with
Gilda in the execution of the group’s business strategy. They will assume
responsibility for investment sales and debt and equity placement across the
region, working in conjunction with our senior team of Managing Directors. Jeffrey will continue to oversee full-service
investment sales in New York and the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., as well
as our Hotel Investment Banking platform. John will continue to oversee
full-service investment sales in Los Angeles and the Western region of the
U.S.
John
O’Neill has been appointed CEO of American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP
(AHIP) effective Oct. 1, 2018. O’Neill is an accomplished
hospitality professional with more than 30 years of experience in hotel
investment, development and management. O’Neill
oversaw the management of AHIP’s hotel operations as the portfolio grew from 32
to 115 hotels over the past six years, while serving as president of ONE Lodging
Management Inc. until Aimbridge Hospitality assumed AHIP’s hotel-management
duties in April 2018. John O'Neill will succeed Rob O'Neill, AHIP's co-founder, who has been chief executive officer and a valued board member since AHIP's inception in 2012. Rob O'Neill will remain on AHIP's Board following his retirement as CEO in October.
The
American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) announced today that its
president and chief executive officer (CEO) Katherine Lugar will be departing
the organization later this year. Lugar has accepted a new position as
president and CEO of the American Beverage Association (ABA). The AHLA Officers
of the Board have initiated a search for her successor. During
Lugar’s five-year tenure at AHLA, she led a major transformation of the
organization, including tripling membership and revenue; aligning the policy
interests of brands, owners and management companies; driving critical public
policy campaigns on a host of issues; serving as the leading voice with public
policy officials at all levels of government; and making its political action
committee (PAC) one of the largest among all trade associations.
CBRE Canada is pleased to announce that Sylvia Occhiuzzi has been
appointed to senior associate as part of CBRE Canada’s Hotel Capital Markets
team.
Sylvia brings over 16 years of commercial real estate experience, a
decade of which was at Four Seasons Hotels Limited. At Four Seasons, she
supported the hotel chain’s U.S. and European expansion. As well, Occhiuzzi’s
background in underwriting complex hotel and mixed-use projects is a valuable
addition to the team’s national capabilities.
In addition to supporting sophisticated hotel investors, Sylvia will
help a new tier of investors that is looking to enter and navigate the
intricacies of Canada’s unique hotel market.
