go2HR, BC’s
tourism human resource association, is pleased to welcome four tourism industry
professionals to its board of directors, joining eleven directors who were
re-appointed or continuing their terms. These directors were elected at go2HR’s
Annual General Meeting on June 19, 2018.
They are: Craig Blize,
VP of Operations, Earls Restaurants; Jeff
Guignard, Executive Director, Alliance of Beverage Licensees
(ABLE BC); Sarah
McCullough, Director, Community & Government Relations,
Whistler Backcomb; and Jacqueline
Simpson, Director, Global Marketing Channels, Destination
British Columbia.
J.J. Belanger, general manager, Crystal Cove Resort, has been elected as the new chair of the
board, and Eda Koot, general manager, Pacific Gateway Hotel at Vancouver Airport, as vice chair.
The go2HR board of directors represents a
cross-section of BC’s tourism industry including business operators, industry
associations and educational institutions from different regions of the
province. The board provides leadership to support go2HR’s mandate of assisting
BC’s tourism industry with labour market challenges and other HR issues.

sales team in downtown Ottawa.
LA Palamar, director of sales and marketing,
brings to the position over 25 years of hospitality and tourism sales, sales
training and public relations experience.
Working with brands such as Sheraton, Delta and Ramada, LA has worked at
the property, regional and national levels of the hospitality industry. She is the incoming president of the Ottawa
Bytown Rotary Club, and can be found taking advantage of Ottawa’s many music
festivals whenever possible.
Experienced
in hospitality sales with Delta and Fairmont, Monica Hailstone is the senior sales manager, responsible for the Corporate and Association markets. She was most recently regional director
for the Association of Corporate Travel Executives, overseeing USA, Canada and
Latin America, where her responsibilities included business development, lead
generation, marketing and strategic planning. Now that spring has arrived, you
may find her playing in the dirt at her local community garden, or enjoying
the bike paths in Ottawa.
Julie Aziz, sales manager, is a graduate of the
Capilano College Tourism Management Program.
She began her career with Westin in Vancouver before joining Delta in
Ottawa. Moving through progressively
senior management positions, Her experience includes leadership roles in food
and beverage and working with the pre-opening team of the Delta Toronto. Aziz will work with the First Nations and Government markets. She can be found doing anything outdoors; running, soccer,
camping, hiking and of course patios!

is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle Stothers as general manager
of SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort. Since moving to Vancouver
Island over a decade ago, Stothers has held a variety of hospitality roles where

enthusiasm for the Sooke area will serve her well in her new general manager position.
