Sandra
Stewart-Fearnside is now director of hotel operations for Burloak Hospitality Management. She will be opening GM for the company’s current project, a new-build Courtyard Marriott on Burloak Drive. Stewart-Fearnside comes to her
new position from Choice Hotels Canada, where she held several positions over
10 years, finishing as manager of sales operations. Prior to working with
Choice, she helped open Hampton Inns and Hilton Garden Inns in Ajax, London, and
Burlington, Ontario.
Experienced hotel leader, Harmeet Chugh, has joined the Westin Harbour Castle as the hotel’s new manager. He has over 17 years of hospitality experience, including international work across three different continents. Harmeet has been with Marriott since 2003, and most recently, he worked as a hotel manager in St. Thomas at the Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort. His background includes banqueting, events, front office operations and sales. His diverse background and understanding of international cultures will be a great addition to the Westin Harbour Castle team.
Dikran Zabunyan is now hotel and resort general
manager at NorthWest Hotels Inc., working on the Sunshine Coast in B.C. He previously spent eight years as a hospitality
and business management consultant for clients that included Faster Linen, Dass
Group of Hotels, Hudson Bay Mountain, Spirit Bay Developments and Gnosis
Hotels. Prior to that, he was general manager at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort
in Halfmoon Bay, B.C. for four years, and he also spent four years as director
of hotel operations and hospitality management consultant for Northern Vision
Development/Skyy Hotel Inc./LFNDC in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Drew Coles has been appointed interim president and CEO of CHC Student
Housing Corp. Coles is the president and CEO of Full-G
Capital, which he founded in April 2017. He has held senior management
positions in the Canadian hospitality industry for over 13 years. Prior to
founding Full-G Capital, he served as president and CEO of InnVest REIT, and
oversaw the C$2.1 billion sale and privatization of the company to Bluesky
Hotels and Resorts in August 2016. Coles also served on the Board of
Trustees of Innvest REIT from January 2015 to March 2017. From January 2015 to
August 2016 he served as chairman of Choice Hotels Canada. Coles previously
served as vice-president, hotels at Oxford Properties Group. In
other previous roles, he worked with Delta Hotels which was owned by
both bcIMC and Fairmont Raffles Hotels International.
Scott Hoadley is now general manager of the recently refurbished Falcon
Crest Lodge. Hoadley joins the Falcon Crest Lodge team from Sidney, B.C., where he held
the position of general manager for the Best Western Plus Emerald Isle. Prior
to his time in Sidney, he was the hotel manager at the Inn at Laurel
Point, located in Victoria, BC. His international appointments
include director of operations for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda. Prior to that role, He was the director of rooms for the Fairmont Hotel
Macdonald in Edmonton, Alberta.
True Key Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce Steve Haggard as the new general manager for the Radium Golf Group operations at the Radium and Springs Golf courses. Haggard's ascension to the general manager position is fitting to his over 20 years of golf management experience in BC and Alberta. He is a proven leader who has the experience and track record for delivering results. Haggard has built a successful career out of managing and improving the golf and guest experiences at some of the most recognized golf operations in Western Canada.
Shan E. Wickremasinghe is now the general manager of Rawley Resort Spa and Marina. His background includes 17 years between franchise and Marriott International in various positions — director of operations rooms, and general manager — with Marriott in Muskoka Wharf, Calgary, and Toronto Bloor Yorkville. Before that, he worked with IHG in Toronto as manager, arrivals and reception for seven years. Wickremasinghe is also the past co-chair of Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency.
