TownePlace Suites Hamilton nears completion
HAMILTON — The TownePlace Suites on Hamilton Mountain is nearing completion. Anupam Kothari, president of the Mississauga-base Kothari Group, said they expect construction to be completed in mid-September. “It’s about 80 per cent complete,” he told the Hamilton Spectator.
Kothari Group teamed up with Oakville-based Sigma Group in the spring of 2019 to begin construction of the $20-million, four-storey, 125-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel behind Shoeless Joe’s on Upper James near the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. “The structure is completely done, it’s all interior work now.”
The new hotel is aimed at the extended-stay traveller and each room will have a full kitchen. When it opens, the project is expected to create 35 full-time jobs. Kothari said previously the hotel’s proximity to the John C. Munro-Hamilton International Airport also bodes well for business.

Apartment style hotel is opening in Griffintown
MONTREAL — Griffintown Hotel is opening its doors in Montreal. Touted as the first concept of its kind in the city, this apartment-hotel is designed to provide its guests with a vivid “neighbourhood-type” experience within the city’s Griffintown district — located between the downtown core and Old Montreal.
The new hotel will offer complete one- and two-bedroom condo-style apartments (395 to 845 sq. ft.) — a concept that has proven itself internationally. Each apartment features a full kitchen, living room and one or two bathrooms and are designed to comfortably accommodate up to five adults for a long stay.
