Canada hotels record first occupancy decline in three months
After three consecutive months of year-over-year increases, Canada’s hotel industry recorded a decline in occupancy, according to CoStar’s July 2024 data.
Canada welcomed 929,000 overnight visitors in March 2023, a 96 per cent increase from March 2022 and equivalent to 82 per cent of the pre-pandemic level.
Arrivals from Mexico surpassed their 2019 level for a fifth straight month. While China, Japan and South Korea are still lagging behind DC's other market recovery, these Asian markets have seen the strongest annual growth compared to March 2022.
