Following its Moxy Montreal hotel signing, RIMAP Hospitality has announced another agreement with Marriott International to bring a 222-room Moxy hotel to Ottawa.
The hotel will be located in downtown Ottawa’s Byward Market. Moxy Ottawa is slated to open in 2024 and will be just steps away from RIMAP’s AC Hotel by Marriott Ottawa property—announced in 2019 and currently under construction.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Marriott on our second Moxy hotel project, this time in Ottawa—a city with opportunity for growth,” said Marc Varadi, president of RIMAP Hospitality. “Byward Market’s bustling streetscape and liveliness will align seamlessly with the vibrancy of the Moxy brand.”
Moxy Ottawa is expected to occupy floors 1-5 of a 22-story mixed-use tower. Plans also call for eclectic public spaces, a street-side restaurant, and the playful Bar Moxy concept, which allows guests to check-in at the lobby bar. The property will boast industrial-chic characteristics by utilizing and preserving the existing structure of the historical S.J. Major Warehouse—a heritage property built in 1913 during the First World War.
“We are proud to work with RIMAP Hospitality on their fifth Marriott hotel project,” said Don Cleary, president of Marriott Hotels of Canada. “RIMAP’s commitment to innovation and deep-rooted knowledge of the Ottawa market will aid in the successful launch of the daring Moxy brand into Canada’s capital city.”
Moxy Hotels currently encompasses over 100 experiential hotels open across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
