Since its inception over 100 years ago, the Round Table has hosted literary juggernauts such as Dorothy Parker, Franklin Adams, Robert Benchley, Edna Ferber, Harold Ross, Robert Sherwood, Alexander Woollcott and more.

Beginning in 1919, this group of New York City writers, critics, actors and tastemakers, who dubbed themselves members of “The Vicious Circle," would meet for lunch seated at the Round Table at The Algonquin Hotel to engage in witty banter, original thought and community connections. The newly refurbished Round Table will once again play host to societal disruptors and tastemakers who will encourage cultural conversation and champion an array of diverse voices.

The Round Table

A Mics of the Round Table series will bring together rappers, songwriters, authors, journalists, and other artists to explore their impact on society, the messages they are sending and the audiences they are reaching. The intersection of these different art forms will lead to powerful, thoughtful discussions about creative processes and the larger cultural narratives each guest is shaping. Just as the original Algonquin Round Table was a hub for literary voices that shaped their time and were part of New York City’s social fabric, this new series will aim to carry that torch forward with modern-day poets and lyricists.
