Travel Alberta has released its emergency management site.
“As we gear up for an exciting tourism season, we also recognize that summer brings heightened risk of fire, smoke, flood, and drought. Alberta’s tourism industry is uniquely impacted by natural disasters, with many businesses operating in close proximity to the natural environment,” says Dan Boucher, executive director of external affairs chair, Team Alberta Emergency Response Group.
You can use the new emergency management webpage to access resources and guides that can help you prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters.
“We are also establishing the Team Alberta Emergency Response Group—where representatives from DMOs, government, airlines, airports, and other industry leaders will convene regularly throughout the summer to coordinate and share information in response to disasters.
Our industry is strongest when we work together. While we may not be able to control severe weather, we can mitigate the impacts in a way that protects the safety of residents and visitors, the sustainability of tourism businesses, and Alberta’s reputation as a destination,” says Boucher.
