The 128-room hotel, positioned in the historic downtown area, has undergone significant renovations to align with the brand’s emphasis on boutique luxury and distinctive guest experiences.

Originally established as a stock exchange for gold and silver from the Rockies, The Mining Exchange is now a modern hotel that honours its historic roots while providing contemporary amenities. The property features multiple culinary outlets, a full-service spa, and an on-site art gallery, The Vault. Located near attractions such as the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, the hotel aims to attract both leisure and business travellers.

Since its inception in 2021, Registry Collection Hotels has positioned itself in the upscale hospitality segment, curating properties that offer unique and immersive experiences. The brand, part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, now encompasses over 20 properties globally, including destinations in Greece and Panama, with nearly 10 additional hotels in its development pipeline.

Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, emphasizes the growing demand for individualized experiences within the upscale market. “Today’s affluent travellers increasingly crave the bespoke and immersive experiences that boutique, independently minded operators can offer. Through Registry Collection Hotels, we’re committed to curating these one-of-a-kind experiences for guests—all while helping owners tap into the unparalleled scale and resources of the world’s largest hotel franchisor.”

The renovation of The Mining Exchange underscores the trend of integrating local culture and history into the guest experience. Bashar Wali, Founder & CEO of Practice Hospitality, highlighted the hotel’s transformation as both a nod to its origins and a strategic alignment with the Registry Collection brand. “The Mining Exchange has been a Colorado icon since 1902. Now, some 120 years on, we are honouring that heritage by creating a hotel imbued with local touches and human connection that has earned the distinction of being the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S.,” Wali says. “We’re proud to be joining a world-class portfolio of international hotels and adding Colorado Springs to the global roster of Registry Collection destinations.”

The Mining Exchange’s design overhaul features exposed brick, vaulted ceilings, and vintage-style windows, blending historical elements with modern finishes to appeal to today’s travellers. The hotel’s amenities include high-end marble finishes in guest bathrooms, a full-service spa offering wellness treatments, and 15,000 square feet of flexible event space. This versatility is intended to attract a diverse clientele, from leisure visitors to business groups seeking unique venues for meetings and events.

Leonardo Danese, brand leader of Registry Collection Hotels, pointed to the Mining Exchange as an example of the brand’s commitment to high standards and distinctive guest experiences. “Registry Collection Hotels provide guests with an oasis from daily life while exploring some of the most stunning destinations in the world. In the case of The Mining Exchange, the hotel seamlessly blends the rich history of its surroundings with unmatched service and elevated décor,” he states.

The addition of The Mining Exchange to the Registry Collection portfolio reflects a broader strategy to expand the brand's presence in the U.S. market by targeting properties that offer a combination of historical significance and contemporary appeal. As the first of its kind in the United States, The Mining Exchange sets a precedent for future Registry Collection Hotels in North America, showcasing how boutique properties can differentiate themselves through a strong sense of place and tailored guest experiences.
